Physicians for Social Responsibility, Nepal
(PSRN) welcomes the freedom of BBC correspondent Mr. Alan Johnston
with a sense of great relief. PSRN opposes any forceful abduction,
hostage-taking, illegal detentions, particularly imprisonment with
forced bomb-belt jacket, or any form of physical, mental or emotional
torture or any kind of emotional blackmail or trading of gunfire,
rocket launching or acts of aggression from Israel or Palestinian
sides.
We all appreciate the Hamas leadership for their
commitment and strategic wisdom in effecting Alan's freedom from
hostage takers. We hope that Hamas leadership will be able to realize
security, law and order through sincere political dialogue pursuing
peaceful means.
We all have to work hard to make voices of peoples
heard and culture of peace and democracy becoming stronger than
bullets, bombs, and or subvert or covert operations.
We also felicitate Alan for his courage to withstand unwelcome ordeals
at the hands of hostage takers and wish him a healthy life and ability
to continue his professional responsibilities in free and fair manner.
