The 5th National Convention of PSRN

On 30 March, Physicians for Social Responsibility, Nepal (PSRN) held its 5th National Convention in Kathmandu at Kathmandu Model Hospital. It has formed a new Executive body. The programme was organised into an inaugural session, plenary presentations by the General Secretary, Treasurer and student represantative

General Secretary, Dr. Sharad Onta, presented the annual progress report of the PSRN. He informed that the organisation, as we all know, has played the vital role for 'the movement for peace and democracy'. In the programme he clarified that the organisation managed and expanded its office with basic infrastructures i.e. furniture, computer, photocopy machine, fax, phones etc.

 
And claimed that they have timely raised the issue of constitutional assembly while the political parties were in dilemma and confusion. Similarly, he informed at the same time that more than seven doctors of PSRN were in custody during the mass movement and many more other doctors provided the treatment to the injured in the demonstrations in the mass movement 2006.
Likewise, Treasurer Dr. Arun Dixit has submitted income and expenditure report of 2062/063. He added that the organisation had already audited its financial transactions of 2062/063 and submitted the documents to the District Chief Office and Internal Revenue Department. The submitted documents i.e. progress report by General Secretary and Financial Report by Treasurer passed by the general assembly. The co-ordinator of Charter Draft Committee, Dr. Bidur Osti, submitted reformation on the Chapter and it was approved and passed by the assembly. Then, a new executive committee was formed under the chairmanship of Prof. Mathura Prasad Shrestha from the same assembly.
